Morgan Drums Ashikos are hand-crafted from kiln-dried Wisconsin hardwoods and exotic African woods, allowing them to be lightweight and portable, yet giving deep "window-rattling" bass, cracking slaps, and singing tones. Choose from Black Walnut, White Oak, Cherry, Maple, or our dramatic striped variations.

Ashikos come headed with the highest-quality hand-scraped African goatskin. However, for a more Afro-Cuban sound a hand-selected cowskin drumhead is available. Ashikos are rope-tuned with "diamond" lacing, a traditional Mali drumweave.

The Ashiko is a long, conical hand drum of staved construction, similar to the N'goma drums of Nigeria.

Drums similar to Ashikos are found in Cuba, Haiti, Brazil, and throughout the Americas. In Cuba they are called El Bokú and are used for playing camparasas at carnivals and festivals.
